IED Explosion Rocks Niger: Eight Dead, Vital Bridge Wiped Out

Eight people have died after an improvised explosive device (IED) went off on Luma Road in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State. The blast struck a moving vehicle on Monday, authorities said.

The explosion also destroyed a bridge connecting the communities of Luma, Babanna, and Agwara. This bridge is an important route for residents, especially traders and commuters heading to the Babanna border market, which holds every Monday.

Earlier on the same day, a similar blast occurred in Woro, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, where multiple casualties were reported. Security agencies are investigating both incidents to determine those responsible and prevent further attacks.

The attacks have caused fear among locals and disrupted travel and trade in the affected areas, raising concerns about safety along key transport routes.
