PDP Convention: Party Still Alive, Will Bounce Back – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will use its national convention in Abuja to show that the party remains active and ready to recover from its challenges. He made this known on Sunday while inspecting the venue of the convention after meeting with party stakeholders.

The convention is scheduled to take place at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, where over 2,000 delegates from across the 36 states are expected to gather. Wike stated that the event would serve as proof to Nigerians and observers outside the country that the party is still strong and preparing for the future.

He noted that arrangements for the convention have been completed and expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation. According to him, the planning reflects order and proper coordination, which he believes will give the public confidence in the party’s readiness.

Wike also called on delegates to remain peaceful and disciplined throughout the exercise. He stressed that unity and cooperation among party members are necessary for a smooth process and for rebuilding the party ahead of future elections.


The convention comes at a time when the PDP is dealing with internal disagreements, but party leaders hope the gathering will help set a new direction and restore confidence among members and supporters.
