In Lagos State, on Wednesday, Sola Giwa stepped down from his role as Special Adviser on Transportation to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as he prepares to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 elections. He announced that he left the position a day earlier through a message shared online.

Giwa explained that his time in government allowed him to contribute to transport development in the state, especially under the THEMES+ policy direction. He noted that serving in that capacity gave him the opportunity to work closely on improving movement within Lagos and supporting ongoing reforms.

He said his decision to resign came after consultations and careful thought about his next step in public service. According to him, he plans to run for the Lagos Island Federal Constituency II seat in the National Assembly.

Giwa added that his focus going forward would be on representing the interests of his constituency and working on laws that can improve daily life for residents. He also expressed appreciation to the governor for the chance to serve in his administration.
His resignation is seen as part of early political moves ahead of the 2027 general elections, as more political figures begin to position themselves for elective offices.
