ADC Crisis: Onu Rejects Suspension, Plans Court Action

A leadership dispute has emerged within the African Democratic Congress in Ebonyi State after Barrister Silas Onu, who is linked to a faction of the party, rejected reports that he was suspended by party members in Obiozara Ward.

The suspension was said to have been announced by individuals claiming to be acting chairman and secretary of the ward.

Onu denied the action and said it has no basis, adding that it was an attempt to damage his reputation. He stated that those behind the move made claims of financial misconduct against him, which he rejected completely. He also said he is preparing to take legal steps against the people involved and anyone who spread the allegation.

He added that he has instructed that efforts should be made to identify those who issued the suspension notice so they can respond legally to the matter. He insisted that such actions were not valid within the party structure in the state and argued that elected ward executives are already in place across Ebonyi.

In response, the chairman of the party in Ohaozara Local Government Area, Chinedum Elekwachi, said the individuals who signed the suspension letter are not recognized members of the party in that ward. He maintained that Godwin Njoku is the duly elected chairman of Obiozara Ward and dismissed the claim that there are acting ward executives in the state party structure.

The disagreement adds to ongoing internal tensions within the party in Ebonyi State, with both sides insisting on their positions as the dispute continues.
