2027: Malami submits ADC governorship forms for Kebbi race

Former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has formally submitted his governorship nomination and expression of interest forms to contest the 2027 governorship election in Kebbi State under the platform of the African Democratic Congress.

The forms were submitted on Thursday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja. The development was made public through a statement released by Mohammed Bello Doka, who serves as Malami’s media aide.

The submission followed the party’s guidelines for aspirants seeking elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections. Malami’s decision to join the governorship race has already attracted attention across Kebbi State as political activities continue to gather pace in the state.

According to the statement, the former minister has begun consultations across the 21 local government areas in Kebbi as part of efforts to gain support from party members, communi.ty leaders and residents ahead of the election.

Malami had earlier obtained the ADC nomination form and announced his intention to contest for the governorship seat. He said his ambition was driven by concerns over insecurity, economic hardship and governance issues affecting the state.

The former justice minister also stated that he plans to focus on areas such as security, agriculture, education, healthcare and infrastructure if elected governor in 2027.

He described the ADC as a political platform built around accountability, inclusion and development, adding that the party is preparing to offer voters an alternative in the next general elections.

Political observers in Kebbi believe Malami’s entry into the race may reshape the political contest in the state, especially as more aspirants continue consultations ahead of party primaries.

Malami previously served as Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice under former President Muhammadu Buhari before leaving office at the end of the administration in 2023.
