Ireti Kingibe Clinches ADC Senate Ticket in FCT

The African Democratic Congress has officially produced Senator Ireti Heebah Kingibe as its candidate for the Federal Capital Territory Senate seat after she recorded a clear victory during the party’s primary election.

Kingibe secured 17,535 votes to defeat her only challenger, Mubarak Tijjani, who received 806 votes. Following the conclusion of the exercise, election officials announced her as the winner after confirming she obtained the highest number of valid votes cast.

The primary election also produced candidates for the House of Representatives seats across the Federal Capital Territory.

In the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency contest, Bala Iyah emerged victorious after polling 4,937 votes. Yahaya Fatima Goya finished second with 2,015 votes, while Ma’aji Johnson Bello received 1,546 votes. Ismaila Ishak Ozigi came behind with 105 votes.

For the Abaji, Gwagwalada, Kwali and Kuje Federal Constituency, Alhassan Salihu secured the party’s ticket after recording 9,016 votes to defeat Khalid A. Haruna, who polled 2,955 votes.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission monitored the exercise as observers to ensure the process followed electoral procedures.

After emerging as the candidate for the AMAC/Bwari House of Representatives seat, Bala Iyah expressed confidence about the party’s chances in the 2027 election. He said he believes his experience in politics and connection with people in the constituency would strengthen the party’s campaign.

The completion of the primaries marks another stage in the ADC’s preparations as parties continue selecting candidates ahead of the next general election cycle.
