Tinubu’s Early Primary Lead Sparks Jubilation at APC Secretariat

Supporters of President Bola Tinubu gathered at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja on Saturday to celebrate what they described as his strong early performance in the party’s ongoing presidential primary election ahead of the 2027 polls.

The gathering was led by supporters linked to former Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, under the platform of the PBAT Door-2-Door Movement. The supporters arrived in large numbers with songs, chants and party activities as they expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure victory in the primary exercise.

Representatives of the group said they came on behalf of Tompolo to congratulate the President following early results emerging from different wards across the country. They described the turnout as voluntary and said the supporters believed Tinubu deserved another term to continue with his administration’s policies and programmes.

The group maintained that despite current economic and security concerns, they believed more time was needed for the government to build on its ongoing reforms. According to them, challenges facing the country had developed over many years and would require time to address.

They also argued that the President remained focused on governance and expressed confidence that his administration would continue efforts aimed at improving conditions across the country.

The celebration came as early figures from APC presidential primaries in several states showed Tinubu taking a commanding lead over his only challenger, Chief Stanley Osifo.

In Tinubu’s ward in Ikoyi, Lagos State, election officials announced that the President received 4,996 votes from 5,163 registered party members, while Osifo recorded no votes.

Similar outcomes were reported from areas including Mafa Ward in Borno State, Kabo Ward in Kano State, Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State and Oyigbo Ward 3 in Rivers State, where results also showed wide margins in Tinubu’s favour.

Across many of the wards announced at the time, Osifo did not record votes, adding to Tinubu’s early advantage in the nationwide primary exercise.
