Adeleke Reveals Reason for Endorsing Tinubu for 2027

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has explained why he publicly supported President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in 2027, saying his decision was based on what he described as moral responsibility and the need to sustain development projects in the region.

The governor made the remarks after inspecting ongoing work on the Ibadan–Ile Ife–Ilesa Expressway. According to a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke said his position went beyond political party differences and was connected to what he believes serves the interests of Osun State and the wider South-West.

Adeleke said he did not need persuasion before announcing support for the President’s re-election. He pointed to Tinubu’s ties to the region and described the endorsement as a reflection of regional pride and support for continued leadership at the federal level.

During the inspection, the governor also praised the progress recorded on the expressway project. He said the road reconstruction would improve movement across major towns in Osun and support economic activities within the state.

The governor stated that his administration had also invested in infrastructure since taking office in 2022. According to him, several federal roads had received rehabilitation efforts from the state government, while over 300 kilometres of state roads had been reconstructed across different communities.

Adeleke appealed to the Federal Government to refund the state for work carried out on federal roads and expressed appreciation for approvals granted for the reconstruction of the Ibadan–Iwo–Osogbo Road and the Gbongan–Akoda Road.

He added that his government plans to seek approval for the reconstruction of the Osogbo–Ilesa Road, saying more federal support would help improve infrastructure development across the state.

The governor also assured residents that future elections in Osun would remain open and credible, maintaining that democratic principles would guide the process during the August 15 governorship election and beyond.
