2027: Soludo urges women to rally support for Tinubu’s second term

On Monday in Awka, Anambra State, Governor Chukwuma Soludo called on women members of the City Boy Movement to strengthen their political activities and mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election. He made the appeal during an engagement with the group’s women coordinators at the Light House in Awka.

Soludo said women and young people remain critical to the political and economic future of Anambra State and Nigeria. According to him, greater participation from these groups is necessary to drive development and improve the welfare of citizens.

He explained that his administration is committed to creating opportunities that allow more women and youths to play active roles in governance and public affairs.

The governor encouraged members of the movement to understand their responsibilities within the political structure and work towards achieving goals that will benefit society. He also advised them to become more strategic in political engagement and make better use of their voting strength during elections.

Speaking on future elections, Soludo said the South-East should make decisions that will produce practical benefits for the region. He noted that voting remains one of the most powerful tools available to citizens in a democratic system and urged political actors to organise effectively around their interests.

The governor also referred to President Tinubu’s emergence in the last election and called on the women coordinators to increase their efforts in mobilising support for the president’s second-term ambition.

He said political participation should be guided by the desire to secure development and opportunities for communities.

Soludo pledged continued support for the group and expressed satisfaction with the level of involvement shown by its members. He said they have an important role to play in political mobilisation and promised to assist their activities where necessary.

Earlier at the meeting, the Anambra State Women Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, Adaora Soludo, said the group’s objective is to support the Tinubu administration and help communicate government policies to residents at the grassroots level. She stated that the organisation serves as a link between the government and local communities.

The event was attended by several government officials, including the Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Chiamaka Nnake, and the Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Amaka Obi. Participants used the gathering to reaffirm their commitment to expanding the activities of the City Boy Movement in the state.
