Mrs Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the sister of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, and her two sons have regained their freedom days after they were abducted in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The victims were rescued on Saturday night, according to information obtained from a senior police source. Their release brought relief to family members and residents who had followed developments surrounding the abduction.

John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons were kidnapped earlier in the week in the Elewura-Challenge area of Ibadan South-West Local Government Area. Reports indicated that the attackers trailed the vehicle conveying the victims from their residence before intercepting them around 7:30 a.m. and taking them away.

The incident added to growing concerns over security in parts of Oyo State, where cases of kidnapping have continued to attract public attention.
The latest development came months after the abduction of an All Progressives Congress chieftain, Wale Oriade, in Ibadan.
Oriade was reportedly taken away by armed men who stormed his office at the PJ Square Shopping Complex near the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited station along the Iyana Ajanla axis of Akala Expressway.
Witnesses said the attackers arrived in a blue Micra vehicle and forcefully took him away before fleeing the area. The operation was said to have been carried out swiftly, raising concerns among residents and members of the community.
While details surrounding the rescue of Adelabu’s sister and her children were still limited as of press time, security operatives were understood to have been involved in efforts that led to their freedom.
Authorities have yet to release a full account of how the victims regained their freedom, but the successful rescue marks a positive development in a case that generated widespread attention across Oyo State and beyond.
