President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, has taken legal action against Adeniyi Adeyemi, the man who claimed to be the Director General of the Presidential Foreign Promotion Council, over allegations of defamation. The suit was filed on Thursday before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja.

According to the court filing, Gbajabiamila is asking the court to award him N10 billion as general damages over the alleged defamatory statements. He is also seeking an additional N5 billion as aggravated damages.

The Chief of Staff further requested N200 million to cover the cost of the legal action.
In addition to the financial claims, Gbajabiamila asked the court to direct Adeyemi to publish a full retraction of the alleged defamatory statements and issue a public apology. The proposed apology is expected to appear in five national newspapers.
