Rivers ADC Denies Alliance With Wike’s Rainbow Coalition

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Rivers State has denied reports claiming that part of the party has joined the Rainbow Coalition led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The party made its position known on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, saying the reports were false and intended to mislead the public. It explained that there is no faction within the Rivers chapter of the ADC and that the party remains united under the National Executive Committee led by former Senate President David Mark. The party also said it has fully established structures across the state and continues to operate as one political family.

The clarification was made by the Rivers State Publicity Secretary of the party, Chizi Enyi, who said the people presented in the reports as ADC leaders or representatives are not officials of the party. He stated that they have no authority to speak or make political decisions on behalf of the ADC.

According to him, any declaration of support, alliance or merger announced by those individuals is their personal decision and has no connection with the party.

The Rivers ADC also faulted reports referring to an alleged “Ibe Kachukwu faction” within the party. It said no such faction exists and challenged anyone to identify any recognised ADC official or stakeholder in Rivers State or at the national level bearing that name.

The party said the mistake raises concerns about the credibility of the reports and the process used to verify the information before publication. It added that the story was created to give the false impression that the ADC was divided in Rivers State.

The party called on security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services and other law enforcement bodies, to investigate those presenting themselves as ADC officials without authorisation. It urged the agencies to determine whether offences such as impersonation, conspiracy, forgery or false representation had been committed.

The ADC said it would use every legal means available to protect its identity and ensure that anyone falsely claiming to represent the party is held accountable. It also assured its members, supporters and residents of Rivers State that it remains united and committed to offering responsible leadership and good governance.

The party maintained that false information and political propaganda would not affect its activities or its plans for the future.
