Tinubu Hails Yilwatda at 58, Praises His APC Leadership

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, on his 58th birthday, praising his contribution to the party and his role in supporting the administration.

Tinubu conveyed his goodwill to Yilwatda on Saturday, August 8, 2026, through a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The President described the APC chairman as an experienced academic, technocrat and politician whose knowledge and leadership experience have contributed to the running of the ruling party.

Tinubu also commended Yilwatda for his efforts to strengthen the organisational structure of the APC and promote cooperation among members as the party continues to pursue its political objectives.
The President noted that Yilwatda had remained committed to the principles of the APC and had contributed to the party’s efforts to promote democratic governance and national development.

He also recalled Yilwatda’s previous service as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, saying his experience in public service had added value to his responsibilities within the party.


Tinubu praised the APC chairman’s interest in policies aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable Nigerians, particularly initiatives focused on sustainable development and social welfare.


The President wished Yilwatda continued good health, wisdom and strength as he marks another year and continues his responsibilities in the APC and public life.


Yilwatda became national chairman of the APC amid efforts by the ruling party to strengthen its internal structures and prepare for future political activities.


Tinubu said the APC chairman’s dedication to the party and the country deserved recognition, while expressing hope that he would continue to contribute to the development of Nigeria and the progress of the party.


The birthday message comes as the APC continues to consolidate its structures across the country and position itself ahead of the 2027 general elections.


The President’s congratulatory message also reflects the importance placed by the administration on party unity and effective leadership as the ruling party prepares for another major electoral contest.
