2027: LP awaits court verdict before full mobilisation

The Labour Party in Lagos State says it will begin full mobilisation and preparations for the 2027 general elections after the court delivers its judgment on the issues affecting the party.

The party’s Lagos State Secretary, Sam Okpala, disclosed this in Lagos on Sunday while speaking about the party’s plans, internal reconciliation and efforts to strengthen its structure ahead of the elections.

Okpala said the party was currently waiting for the court’s decision before taking major steps towards its 2027 campaign and other election activities.

He explained that once the judgment is delivered, the party would move quickly to put its plans into action and prepare its members for the elections.

Despite the delay, the Lagos LP secretary said the party remained hopeful about its political future and was working towards keeping its members together.

He also said the party would continue to give its members a sense of belonging as efforts to resolve internal issues continue.
Okpala noted that the outcome of the court case would provide a clearer direction for the party and allow its leadership to proceed with its political plans.

He added that the party was not giving up on its political ambitions, stressing that even if some of its immediate plans did not work out, there would be other opportunities in future elections.

His comments come as political parties and opposition groups intensify efforts to rebuild their structures, settle internal disagreements and form alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Labour Party has faced internal disputes in recent times, with different interests seeking control of the party’s structure and direction. The pending court decision is therefore expected to play a major role in determining the next steps for the party.

Okpala maintained that the Lagos chapter remained committed to reconciliation and unity, with the expectation that the court’s decision would help clear the way for the party to move forward.
