The former Anambra State governor said Nigerians deserved to know what each presidential candidate had achieved in the past and what they intended to do if elected president.

He urged candidates to be prepared to explain their credentials and political records while allowing Nigerians to examine their policies and plans before making their choices at the polls.

Obi also spoke about the need for leaders to understand the difficulties faced by communities across the country. He said he would visit areas affected by insecurity and flooding to interact with residents and gain a better understanding of their challenges.

According to him, leadership should involve being close to citizens, particularly people living in communities affected by banditry, terrorism, criminal activities and natural disasters.

He said his political agenda was centred on rebuilding Nigeria through stronger national unity, improved security and an economy that focuses more on production rather than dependence on consumption.
Obi said addressing insecurity would require leaders to understand the experiences of affected communities and take practical steps to restore safety and normal life.

He also maintained that Nigerians should be given the opportunity to assess the various presidential candidates based on their records, competence and proposed solutions to the country’s challenges.
The NDC candidate said the 2027 election should therefore provide a platform for serious discussion about the future of Nigeria rather than being driven only by political slogans.

He added that his proposed approach would focus on bringing government closer to the people, improving security and creating conditions that would allow businesses and productive sectors of the economy to grow.

Obi’s comments come as political parties and presidential hopefuls begin preparations for the 2027 general elections, with several political groups already working to build support across the country.
