One of the notable winners was Osborn Umahi, the son of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, who was declared the chairman-elect of Ohaozara Local Government Area.

Umahi emerged alongside 12 other APC candidates who won the chairmanship contests in the remaining local government areas of the state.

The other winners are Peace Agwu in Ishielu, Paul Ituma in Ohaukwu, Friday Nwuhuo in Ezza North, Chinedu Mkpuma in Ezza South, Chidi Nwode in Ikwo and Timothy Nwachi in Afikpo.

The electoral commission said the election was conducted peacefully and described the exercise as free and fair. It also noted that other political parties took part in the poll.

Enyi praised voters who came out to cast their ballots and exercise their constitutional rights. He also acknowledged the efforts of security personnel deployed to maintain order during the election.

After being declared winner, Osborn Umahi thanked the electoral commission for the conduct of the exercise and promised to focus on issues that affect residents of Ohaozara.

He said his administration would give attention to rural development, create more opportunities for young people and support agriculture as part of efforts to improve the local economy.

The APC chairman in Ebonyi State, Stanley Okoro Emegha, welcomed the party’s victory across the 13 local government areas.

Emegha said the result showed the strength of the APC in the state and pointed to what he described as increased support for the party among residents.

He also expressed confidence that the party would maintain its position in Ebonyi and perform strongly in the 2027 general elections.
