The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, on Monday met with the party’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council Director-General, Abdul’aziz Yari, in Abuja as preparations for the next general elections gather pace.
Yilwatda visited Yari at his residence in Maitama, Abuja, although details of what was discussed during the meeting were not immediately made public.
The meeting came three days after President Bola Tinubu approved the composition of the APC Presidential Campaign Council for his 2027 re-election bid, with Yari appointed to head the council as Director-General.
Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State and former senator, is expected to coordinate the activities of the campaign council as the ruling party begins its preparations for the election.

The appointment has, however, attrated criticism from opposition groups.
The African Democratic Congress, ADC, questioned the composition of the campaign council, while the Allied Peoples’ Movement, APM, also criticised the decision to establish the council.
Despite the reactions from opposition parties, the APC has proceeded with preparations for Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
The meeting between Yilwatda and Yari is coming at a time when the ruling party is working to strengthen its campaign structure ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Both party leaders are expected to play key roles in coordinating the APC’s activities as the election draws closer.
