The Bauchi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has denied reports that it has merged with the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the claim as false and insisting that the party remains intact.

The state PDP Legal Adviser, Yahaya Garkuwa, made this known during a press conference in Bauchi on Tuesday, where he addressed reports concerning the party’s alleged alliance with the APM.
Garkuwa said the PDP had not merged its structure with the APM and that the party’s recognised structure in Bauchi remained in place.
He also accused members of a rival faction within the PDP of posing as legitimate party officials and circulating information that could mislead party members and the general public.
According to him, the PDP structure recognised by the party in Bauchi State is led by Ibrahim Kashim Toro.
He added that the national leadership recognised by his faction is headed by Abdulrahman Mohammed.

The legal adviser further explained that the disagreement over the leadership of the PDP had passed through different stages of the judicial process.
He said the Federal High Court had previously recognised the caretaker leadership at the national level under Abdulrahman Mohammed.
According to Garkuwa, a faction led by Tanimu Turaki challenged the decision at the Court of Appeal, but the appellate court also upheld the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led leadership at the national level and Ibrahim Kashim Toro’s leadership of the party in Bauchi State.
The Bauchi PDP official urged party members and the public to disregard claims that the party’s structure had been handed over to or merged with the APM.
He maintained that the PDP remained active in the state and would continue to operate under the leadership it recognised.
The clarification comes as political activities and alignments begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, with parties and political groups exploring different strategies and alliances ahead of the polls.
