Duke made the promise on Wednesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, where he discussed his plans for the Nigerian economy and his expectations for the next presidential election.

He said his administration would focus on making petrol more affordable, arguing that the cost of fuel has a direct effect on economic activities and the ability of Nigerians to remain productive.

According to him, a government should create conditions that allow citizens to work and produce in a safe and organised environment.

He maintained that petrol is an important part of the economy and should be available to Nigerians at a price they can afford.

Duke also spoke about the possibility of opposition parties working together ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

He said the focus should not simply be on removing the All Progressives Congress from power and replacing it with another party or individual.

The former governor said opposition groups need to first agree on a clear direction for the country and develop a common vision for Nigeria before seeking political cooperation.

He also raised concerns about the Independent National Electoral Commission and its preparedness to conduct the 2027 election.

Duke said INEC would have to take steps to regain the confidence of Nigerians and assure them that the election would be conducted freely and fairly.

He noted that doubts about the electoral process had grown among Nigerians, making it necessary for the electoral commission to demonstrate that it could organise a credible election.

Duke is one of the politicians expected to contest the 2027 presidential election, where he will face President Bola Tinubu and other candidates seeking the nation’s highest political office.
