The former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara State, Alhaji Babatunde Mohammed, has resigned from the party.

Mohammed, who spoke with DAILY POST on Saturday in Ilorin, confirmed his decision to quit the PDP, adding that he plans to move to the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

The ex-Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, who served between 2009 and 2011 under the PDP, said he had been a loyal member of the party since 2002. He noted that his decision to leave followed his loss of confidence in the party’s current state and direction.

A known ally of former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Mohammed explained that despite many party leaders defecting to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the past, he had chosen to remain in the PDP out of loyalty.
However, he said the time had come to move on and explore a new political platform.In his resignation letter dated October 15, 2025, and addressed to the PDP chairman of Agunjin Ward in Ifelodun Local Government Area, he cited personal reasons for his exit.
His planned defection to the ADC is expected to stir fresh political realignments within the state ahead of upcoming elections.
