Kano lawmaker Abdulmumin Jibrin, who represents Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, has officially rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC) two months after being expelled from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Jibrin, a former ally of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was expelled by the NNPP in September over alleged anti-party activities and failure to meet his financial obligations. His return to the APC follows reports of meetings with President Bola Tinubu in recent weeks.

The lawmaker announced his defection on Monday in his hometown of Kofa, Bebeji Local Government Area, where he addressed a large gathering of supporters. He declared full support for President Tinubu’s reelection in 2027 and reaffirmed his commitment to the APC.

The event, attended by religious leaders and local supporters, also featured prayers for the peace and progress of Kano State and Nigeria.
Jibrin, who left the APC for the NNPP in 2022 after internal disputes, was reelected under the NNPP in 2023. His defection marks another major shift in Kano’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
