The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party linked to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called for an emergency meeting of the party’s Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee. The meetings are set to take place on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja.

The notice announcing the meetings was issued by the factional National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, and later shared online by one of Wike’s media aides. According to the announcement, the BoT session will start at 11 a.m., followed by the NEC meeting at 2 p.m. The faction noted that members are expected to attend because the meetings will focus on pressing matters affecting the group.

This development comes days after the main PDP, during its 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, removed Wike, Anyanwu, former National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, Imo PDP Chairman Austin Nwachukwu, and several others from the party. Their removal was based on allegations of actions against the party’s interest. The motion for their removal was introduced by Bode George and supported by the Bauchi PDP chairman, Samaila Buga. Delegates at the convention later gave their approval through a voice vote.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who leads the PDP Governors’ Forum, oversaw the voting process during the convention. He later confirmed the delegates’ decision, which marked a new step by the party to respond to internal disputes ahead of future elections.
The emergency meetings by the Wike-backed faction come at a time when the party is dealing with internal division, changing alliances, and ongoing disputes involving top members. The outcome of the Tuesday meetings may shape how the faction responds to the convention’s decisions and what future steps the group plans to take.
