Police officers on Wednesday blocked the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party at Wadata Plaza in Abuja. The action followed a violent clash between two party factions that occurred the day before.

The confrontation involved the group led by Saminu Turaki and members loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The fight created chaos at the secretariat, forcing security agents to intervene. During the confusion, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State were caught in the melee and were affected by teargas used to disperse the crowd.

When the secretariat was visited on Wednesday, the building was blocked with barbed wire to prevent access. Only a few police officers remained on duty, and none of the faction leaders were present. Supporters of the group led by Kabiru Turaki protested the closure, but the police maintained the barricade.
