Nwifuru Emerges BOT Chairman of Assembly Forum

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has been chosen as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Forum of former presiding officers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria. The forum is a national group made up of former Speakers and Deputy Speakers from the 36 states, created to promote democratic growth, encourage cooperation among past lawmakers, and support national progress.

Nwifuru’s emergence was made known in a statement issued in Abakaliki by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr Monday Uzor, who confirmed the development to journalists on Saturday.

Before becoming governor, Nwifuru served as a member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly from 2011. He later became Speaker and held the position from 2015 until 2023. After his time as Speaker, he was elected as the fourth civilian Governor of Ebonyi State.

During his years in the Assembly, Nwifuru worked closely with the executive arm of government to ensure that government policies matched the needs of the people. His experience in state legislation and leadership is seen as a key factor in his emergence as head of the forum’s board of trustees.

The forum is expected to benefit from his leadership as it continues its work of strengthening democratic practices and supporting national development through the experience of its members.
