The New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, on Saturday re-elected members of its National Working Committee to serve another four-year term during its national elective convention held in Abuja.
The convention took place in the Federal Capital Territory and brought together party leaders, delegates, and stakeholders from across the country to decide who would lead the party at the national level. The exercise was conducted as the tenure of the outgoing national officers came to an end, in line with the party’s constitution.
At the end of the convention, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed emerged again as the National Chairman of the party. Other officers returned to office include Alhaji Abba Kawu as Deputy National Chairman for the North, Chief Onu Nwaze as Deputy National Chairman for the South, Hon. Dipo Olayokun as National Secretary, and Hon. Oladipo Johnson as National Publicity Secretary. Several other national officers and deputies were also elected to fill various positions within the party structure.
Party officials said the election followed guidelines earlier sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission and made available to members nationwide. The convention planning committee explained that the process was orderly and aimed at ensuring continuity and stability in the party’s leadership.
After the election, the party leadership said the NNPP was focused on expanding its presence across the country and strengthening its internal structures. The re-elected chairman stated that the party had already completed congresses at the ward, local government, state, and zonal levels, with reports submitted and approved by the National Executive Committee.
The national leader of the party and former Kano State governor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, congratulated the newly elected officers and urged them to remain disciplined and committed to the party’s goals. He also pointed to the performance of the NNPP-led government in Kano State as an example of what the party plans to deliver if given the opportunity at the national level.
The convention was attended by top party figures, including the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, his deputy, senior party officials, lawmakers, and members of the party’s Board of Trustees.
