Governor Seyi Makinde has congratulated Christians in Oyo State and across Nigeria on the celebration of Christmas, calling on them to live in love and peace with one another. The message was released in Ibadan through his Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olarenwaju.
The governor described Christmas as a period that reminds people of love and unity, noting that the birth of Jesus Christ teaches humility and peaceful coexistence. He urged Christians to reflect these values in their daily lives by maintaining harmony with their neighbours and the wider society.
Makinde also advised residents of the state to remain alert during the festive season. He said security is a shared duty and encouraged citizens to support government efforts by being watchful and responsible while celebrating.
He asked residents to report any suspicious activities to security agencies using the Oyo State Citizen Emergency Number, 615, explaining that timely reports help security operatives respond quickly to threats.
The governor assured the people that the state government remains committed to maintaining safety across Oyo State throughout the Christmas period and beyond, while wishing all residents a peaceful and joyful celebration.
