The National Working Committee of the NNPP has dissolved all party structures in Kano State, including the state executive committee as well as officials at the local government and ward levels. The action was announced by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Oladipo Johnson, who said the decision followed an emergency meeting of the party leadership.
According to the party, the dissolution was done in line with the provisions of the NNPP constitution. The national leadership also announced plans to set up a caretaker committee that will temporarily oversee the party’s affairs in Kano State until further notice.
The decision comes amid a growing political crisis involving the NNPP’s national leader and former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and the current governor of the state, Abba Yusuf. The crisis is connected to reports that Yusuf is preparing to leave the NNPP for the APC, a move that has created tension within the party.
The Kano State chapter of the APC has already confirmed that the governor is expected to join the party within days. This development has deepened the rift between key political figures in the state.
The NNPP leadership expressed appreciation to all officials affected by the dissolution for their service and contributions to the party at the state, local government, and ward levels. The party said further directives on the caretaker committee and the future structure of the NNPP in Kano State will be communicated in due course.
