KWAM1’s Daughter Declares bid for Lagos Assembly Seat

Barrister Damilola Ayinde Marshall, daughter of Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, has announced her plan to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Surulere Constituency 2.

She made this known on Tuesday through her social media page, where she shared her decision to enter the race and serve her community.

Damilola, who currently works as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said her interest in the position is driven by her desire to contribute to governance and support the needs of people in her constituency. She has spent over a decade in the legal profession, which she believes has given her experience in understanding law, leadership, and public service.

She is seeking to succeed the current lawmaker representing the constituency under the All Progressives Congress. Her campaign is expected to focus on youth representation and development, as she aims to bring the concerns of young people closer to the legislative process.

Damilola studied law at North America University in Cotonou and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2015. She later obtained a Master of Laws degree from the University of Lagos in 2022. Her appointment as a government aide came in May 2024, when the Lagos State governor selected her to serve in the tourism sector.

Her political move has drawn attention online, with several public figures reacting to her announcement. Among those who acknowledged her decision are Davido and Dayo Amusa, who showed support on social media.

With her background in law and public service, Damilola is preparing to join the 2027 election race, as she seeks to represent Surulere Constituency 2 and take part in lawmaking at the state level.
