Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from Kogi Central has called on former members of the Peoples Democratic Party to come back and help rebuild the party ahead of the 2027 elections. She made this appeal in Abuja while speaking at the inauguration of the PDP National Convention Committee.

She said the party needs the experience and knowledge of those who left, adding that their contributions are important in restoring the party’s position in national politics. She also pointed to the drop in the party’s number of senators, noting that internal issues had led to many members leaving.

According to her, some of her colleagues who defected had complained about disagreements within the party. She urged them to reconsider their decision, saying the situation outside the party may not be better and that they would be welcomed back.

Also speaking at the event, the chairman of the convention committee, Okezie Ikpeazu, described the gathering as an important moment for the party. He admitted that the PDP has faced internal struggles and legal disputes but said a recent court decision recognising the current leadership provides a chance to move forward.
He added that the party must focus on unity and reconciliation, encouraging members to put aside their differences and work together. He stressed that rebuilding the party would require honesty, mutual respect, and a willingness to move past past conflicts.
The event is part of efforts by the PDP to reorganise and prepare for future political activities, including the 2027 general elections.
