APC suspends Fubara over over anti-party actions

The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has suspended Fubara Dagogo, a party member from Bonny Local Government Area, over alleged misconduct and actions seen as going against party rules.

The decision was taken by the Ward 4 Executive Committee after reviewing his recent activities linked to the party’s national convention.

The suspension followed a legal case filed by Dagogo at a Federal High Court in Abuja. He had asked the court to stop the party’s planned convention, claiming he was unfairly denied the chance to contest for the position of National Vice-Chairman for the South-South zone.

He stated that although he paid the required fee for the nomination form, the party did not complete the process that would allow him to run.

In his suit, he also asked the court to cancel any election conducted without his participation and requested financial compensation over what he described as unfair treatment. His action, however, was not accepted by leaders of his ward, who saw it as a violation of party discipline and internal procedures.

The ward leadership, led by Chairman Richard Ibani, announced the suspension after a meeting held on March 16. The decision was backed by several executive members, with official documents signed by the ward secretary and other members of the committee.

According to the ward executives, Dagogo’s move to take the party to court went against the party’s constitution and brought unwanted attention to its internal affairs. They stated that members had earlier been warned to avoid actions that could harm the party’s image or unity.

The committee said the suspension takes effect immediately and will remain in place until further notice. They also called on the state leadership of the party to support their decision and take any additional steps they consider necessary.

The development adds to ongoing tensions within the party as preparations continue for the national convention, with internal disagreements surfacing in different states.
