On Thursday in Nigeria, the United Kingdom’s High Commissioner, Richard Montgomery, alongside the Deputy High Commissioner, Gill Lever, held meetings with key political figures and electoral officials as part of engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections. The visits were confirmed in a statement shared by the UK High Commission.

During the visits, the envoys met with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission and its chairman, Joash Amupitan, as well as political leaders including former presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi. They also met the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu.
