The meeting came only a few days after Gwarzo completed screening for the Kano North Senatorial District race under the APC platform. Political observers have continued to pay attention to the zone because of the influence it holds in Kano State politics and the number of powerful APC figures connected to the area.

Kano North remains one of the strongest political blocs in the state and is home to several top APC leaders expected to play major roles before the 2027 elections. Among them are Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, former governor Ganduje, Kano State Deputy Governor Murtala Sule Garo, Abba Kabir Bichi, and Gwarzo himself.

The senatorial seat for Kano North is currently occupied by Barau Jibrin, who is also expected to seek another term during the next election.

Tuesday’s meeting is part of ongoing consultations and alliance talks within the APC as party leaders continue efforts to strengthen their structure in Kano State ahead of future political contests.

The latest development also followed the recent withdrawal of another APC senatorial aspirant, Dr Mahmoud Baba Bichi, from the Kano North race after reports of intervention by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in support of party unity.
