N5bn suit: “If you need campaign money, just ask” – Kenneth Okonkwo Slams Peter Obi

Kenneth Okonkwo has reacted to reports that Peter Obi is seeking N5 billion in damages over alleged defamatory comments made against him. The actor and politician responded on Wednesday through a post on his X account, where he dismissed the reported legal action and made remarks suggesting that Obi could have asked him for financial help if he needed support for political activities.

Okonkwo said he had seen a circulating letter involving Obi and his legal team and described the situation in a mocking tone, while insisting he had not yet fully reviewed the document. He suggested that if Obi required money for campaigning, he could have approached him privately instead of taking legal steps, adding that he would have assisted based on their past working relationship.

He also referenced his time as Obi’s campaign spokesman, claiming that he personally handled some expenses during that period, including travel and accommodation costs linked to campaign activities.

The former spokesman further stated that he had chosen not to publicly disclose certain information from his time in Obi’s political camp out of personal principle. However, he warned that he might reconsider that position if the matter proceeds to court.

Okonkwo added that he would give a formal response after going through the legal documents properly, while maintaining that he was not concerned about any potential lawsuit and was prepared to defend his position if required.
