The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has again declared itself the legitimate leadership of the party in the state. The group made the announcement during the presentation of certificates of return to its candidates for the Taraba State House of Assembly ahead of the coming elections.

Speaking at the event, the faction’s state chairman, Ibrahim Abba Sale, said the group remains the recognised leadership of the PDP in Taraba. He explained that the party’s primary elections, which produced its candidates, were monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Sale urged the candidates to stay focused and continue to seek their mandates through lawful democratic processes. He said the faction has successfully produced candidates for all 24 seats in the Taraba State House of Assembly, the six House of Representatives constituencies and the governorship election. According to him, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha is the faction’s governorship candidate.

The factional chairman also criticised the administration of Governor Agbu Kefas, accusing the state government of failing to meet the expectations of the people through its programmes and policies.
He called on residents of the state to support the PDP candidates during the elections, expressing confidence that the party would receive the backing of voters across Taraba.
The latest declaration comes as the leadership crisis within the PDP in Taraba remains unresolved. Despite the ongoing dispute over the party’s structure in the state, the Wike-backed faction continues to maintain that it is the authentic leadership of the PDP and is moving ahead with its political activities.
