The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed its 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting earlier fixed for Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
The decision to shift the meeting was taken by the National Working Committee (NWC) during an emergency session held on Monday in Abuja.
The party announced the postponement through a statement released by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, on its official X handle.According to the party, the rescheduling became necessary due to recent developments within the PDP.
The NWC acted under the powers granted to it by Section 29 (2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017). A new date for the NEC meeting will be communicated to members in due course.
The PDP urged all NEC members to note the change and await further instructions from the national secretariat.The postponement comes amid growing tension within the party following a wave of defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The development has fueled internal discussions about the future of the opposition party and its readiness for upcoming political events.
In reaction to the defections, Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Bala Mohammed, expressed confidence that the party remains strong despite the challenges.
He reaffirmed that no external influence or internal crisis would prevent the planned National Convention scheduled to take place in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15 and 16.
The party leadership is expected to meet soon to fix a new date for the NEC meeting and address the ongoing political realignments affecting its structure nationwide.
