The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned a list of supposed consensus candidates circulating on social media, describing it as fake and politically driven.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the party accused the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of fabricating the document to mislead the public and cause confusion ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
APC chairman in the state, Tajudeen Lawal, said the action showed how far the PDP was willing to go in its attempt to deceive voters. He stated that the fake list was a deliberate move to create division within the APC and distract its members from ongoing preparations for the polls.
According to the statement, the false publication was an indication of the PDP’s fear of losing power in the upcoming election. The APC described the alleged list as a baseless invention by political opponents and urged members of the public to disregard it completely.
Lawal assured party supporters that the APC had not prepared any consensus list for the 2026 election, adding that all aspirants remained in the race.
He maintained that every governorship hopeful in the APC was capable of defeating the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, at the polls.
The opposition party further warned the PDP to stop spreading misleading information and instead focus on genuine governance. It said the APC remained united, organised, and ready to reclaim leadership of the state in the next election.
The statement concluded with a call for party members to remain calm and ignore distractions, reaffirming the APC’s readiness to present credible candidates through due process.
