The Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday removed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, and its suspended National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, from its membership list. The action was taken during the party’s national convention taking place in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The expulsion was made known at the venue of the convention, which is holding between November 15 and 16, and has drawn party members from across the country. Party officials at the gathering announced the decision as part of activities marking the opening day of the convention.
Wike, who currently serves as the FCT Minister, had been at the centre of long-running disputes within the party since the last election cycle. Fayose, a two-term former governor of Ekiti State, had also been involved in internal disagreements, while Anyanwu had earlier been suspended over separate issues.
The development followed months of tension and public exchanges involving the three men and different blocs within the party. Their removal now marks one of the most direct responses by the party leadership as it reorganises ahead of the next general election.
The PDP convention continues on Sunday, with party delegates expected to address other matters as they plan for the future.
