The leadership of Ward 4 of the All Progressives Congress in Sagamu, Ogun State has said that the suspension placed on Senator Gbenga Daniel is still active, despite a recent letter sent from the party’s National Secretariat. The ward executives made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday after a letter dated November 17, 2025 surfaced from the national level.
The ward chairman, Adebayo Ismail, and the secretary, Durojaiye Oluwole, said the action taken against the senator began at the ward level and was later sent to the state chapter. They explained that the move followed the senator’s refusal to appear before the ward to respond to allegations of working against the party during the last general elections.
The executives said the APC constitution allows executive committees at the ward, local government, state, zonal, or national level to begin disciplinary processes. They noted that although the National Working Committee can also suspend members, this does not cancel the powers of other party organs that acted earlier.
The ward leaders stated that the suspension limits the senator’s rights and roles in the party for now, since he has not challenged the action through the party’s internal procedures.
They also accused Daniel of acting against the interest of the APC during the last elections in Ogun State and of trying to weaken the party’s chances during the tribunal sittings by supporting moves that worked against APC candidates. They said these actions formed the basis of the suspension that has not been lifted.
The ward leaders added that they intend to maintain discipline and proper conduct within the party, and they believe their decision is in line with party rules.
