Cubana Chief Priest warned President Bola Tinubu that winning votes from the South-East in 2027 would be very difficult if the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, remains in prison. He said the mood in the region has changed and that many people now feel disconnected from the current government due to Kanu’s case.
He stated that political tension in the South-East has increased and that support for the president in the region is already dropping. He claimed that only the release of Kanu could change the situation and rebuild trust before the next election.
He also attacked ministers from the South-East, accusing them of failing to speak honestly to the president about the feelings of the people. He said they lack the political strength and influence needed to restore confidence in the government.
Cubana Chief Priest also directed a warning to Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, urging him to take steps to support an appeal and push for Kanu’s release. He said that the governor’s political image and achievements could be damaged if nothing is done before 2027.
He concluded by insisting that the political future of the South-East is tied closely to the fate of Nnamdi Kanu and warned that ignoring the situation could come with serious political consequences.
