Prof. Joash Amupitan, Chairman of INEC, officially administered the oath of office to Prof. Rahmon Tella as the new Resident Electoral Commissioner for Oyo State in a solemn ceremony at the commission’s headquarters. This swearing-in is part of INEC’s ongoing effort to bolster its management of elections across the country.
The INEC chairman underscored the trust and responsibility that comes with the REC role. He called on Prof. Tella to maintain the highest standard of professionalism and warned against any form of compromise in running elections. He stressed that ensuring voters believe in the credibility of poll outcomes is a key part of Tella’s mandate.
In response, Prof. Tella expressed gratitude and pledged to align his work with INEC’s goals. He brought experience to the role, having worked as a Professor of Strategic Management and Public Policy at Atiba University in Oyo. He previously served as REC for Oyo and Ekiti states.
INEC said the appointment reflects its commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring elections are conducted with integrity. Prof. Tella’s return is expected to bring continuity and renewed focus on fair processes in Oyo State.
