Osun Governorship: APC Faction Endorses Oyebamiji

A political group inside the APC in Osun State has called on the party leadership to adopt former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, Bola Oyebamiji, as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2026 governorship election. The group, known as the Earliest Ilerioluwa Caucus, made this call during a rally held in Iwo, where party members, including many youths and women, gathered to show support for him.

The group said Oyebamiji has long experience in public service, having worked as Commissioner for Finance under two former governors, Rauf Aregbesola and Gboyega Oyetola. They also referred to his time as head of the National Inland Waterways Authority, saying his work during that period earned him public trust and support.

The rally was organised to raise awareness about his governorship ambition and to build wider support within the party. Leaders of the group said his background in administration and finance makes him suitable to lead the state if he becomes the party’s flag bearer.

An APC leader from Iwo also expressed support, saying while many aspirants are capable, Oyebamiji stands out based on his experience and leadership record. The party has recorded interest from about 13 aspirants so far, including former deputy governor Iyiola Omisore and former lawmaker Mulikat Abiola.

The APC governorship primary election is scheduled to hold on December 13, where party members will choose their official candidate for the 2026 Osun governorship race.
