The Peoples Democratic Party has appointed a 24-member appeal panel to review petitions from the Osun State governorship primary ahead of the 2026 election. The party made the decision on Monday in Abuja through a statement from its National Organising Secretary, Theophilus Shan.
The appeal session will take place on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge in the Asokoro area of Abuja, where the panel will receive and consider complaints from aspirants and party members. The sitting is planned to begin at 11 a.m.
The development follows the emergence of Adebayo Adedamola as the PDP candidate after the primary election in Osogbo. Adedamola secured 919 votes out of 957, taking the ticket after the exit of former candidate Ademola Adeleke, who defected shortly before the primary.
According to the party, the appeal committee will work based on the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended), the guidelines for party primaries, and the Electoral Act 2022. The party listed 24 members drawn from different zones across the country to handle the assignment, with Kabiru Turaki serving as the chairman and Taofeek Arapaja as secretary. Administrative support will be provided by Emmanuel Ekpe and Suleiman Usman.
The party said the panel was created to give room for fair hearing and to allow aggrieved members to present their concerns before the final confirmation of the primary outcome. The PDP added that it expects full cooperation from all stakeholders as the party prepares for the Osun 2026 governorship race.
