The Chairman of Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Munnir Haidara, on Sunday accused the former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the area, Sadiq Chiroma, of working against the party long before he moved to the All Progressives Congress.
Haidara said the issue started before the last state assembly bye-election, when Chiroma was allegedly seen holding private meetings with APC figures during and after the vote. He said these meetings raised concerns within the PDP at the local level, as they believed Chiroma was acting against the party’s interest.
He also accused Chiroma of sharing party information with opponents and supporting moves that weakened the PDP. Haidara claimed that the defection of the party’s former assembly candidate, Mohammed Lawal Kurya Madaro, was linked to Chiroma’s actions.
According to Haidara, the local party leadership was already aware of Chiroma’s behaviour before he officially left the PDP. He insisted that the party in Kaura-Namoda remains fully behind Governor Dauda Lawal and pointed to ongoing projects in the area as proof of the administration’s focus on community welfare. He encouraged residents to continue to support government programmes.
Haidara wished the former chairman well in his new political path but added that Chiroma would face the outcome of his decisions after leaving the PDP.
