The Accord Party screening committee has approved Governor Ademola Adeleke to run in the party’s governorship primary taking place in Osogbo. The approval followed a detailed screening session where the committee checked the governor’s documents, reviewed his qualifications, and confirmed that he met every requirement needed to contest for the party’s ticket.
The chairman of the committee and National Organising Secretary of the party, Ibe Thankgod, confirmed that Adeleke stood as the only aspirant for the party’s governorship ticket. After the screening, the committee issued him a clearance certificate, confirming that he is qualified to move forward in the process.
Adeleke expressed his readiness for the primary and pledged to work with the party to win the 2026 election. He also stated that he is prepared for the campaign season and the general election.
His clearance comes shortly after he left the People’s Democratic Party, a decision he made public on December 2. He later joined the Accord Party on Tuesday night, making this his first major step as a new member of the party.
The Accord Party leadership is now set to proceed with the primary, with Adeleke standing as the sole aspirant ahead of the upcoming governorship race.
