Defence Minister Welcomes Kaura Namoda PDP Chairman Into APC

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, on Friday received Sadiq Abubakar Ciroma, the Peoples Democratic Party chairman in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, as he moved to the All Progressives Congress in Zamfara State. The state APC chairman, Tukur Danfulani, presented Ciroma to Matawalle during a gathering attended by party members and supporters.

The event took place after Ciroma confirmed he was leaving the PDP. He said he made the decision because he believes the APC offers better leadership and gives more room for participation. He also accused the PDP government in the state of paying more attention to revenue issues while ignoring communities that need support.

Matawalle welcomed Ciroma and praised his political experience, noting that his decision to join the APC would help the party and the people in the area. He also promised Ciroma and his supporters fair treatment and full involvement in party activities.

Shortly after the defection, the chairman of Kaura Namoda Local Government Council, Manir Haidara Kaura, reacted. He said Ciroma had already been working with APC members before the recent state assembly by-election. He claimed Ciroma shared party secrets and supported APC plans long before announcing his exit from the PDP, which raised concerns about his loyalty.

The move marks another shift in Zamfara’s political scene as more members continue to switch parties ahead of future elections.
