The decision followed a ruling of the Federal High Court in Osogbo, Osun State, which directed INEC to update its records within seven days. The court, led by Justice Funmilola Demi-Ajayi, held that the National Executive Committee elected at the party’s national convention in Abeokuta, Ogun State, in October 2023 remains the valid leadership of the Action Alliance.
Acting on the judgment, INEC removed the name of Kenneth Udeze from its records and replaced it with that of Omoaje. The commission also uploaded the names of all NEC members elected at the Abeokuta convention on its official website. By Thursday, Omoaje’s name was already visible on the INEC portal, showing that the commission had carried out the court directive.
Following the development, Omoaje acknowledged INEC’s compliance with the judgment and said the move aligns with the rule of law. He restated the party’s commitment to democratic values, peaceful engagement, and national development across Nigeria.
The recognition brings to a close months of internal disagreement that saw rival groups laying claim to the party’s leadership. With the legal and administrative issues settled, the Action Alliance is now positioned to focus on its political plans ahead of forthcoming elections in states such as Bayelsa and Kogi.
