The African Democratic Congress has announced the formation of a Transitional Committee to manage its affairs in Borno State ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party nominated Hon. Adamu Usman Tubo as Chairman of the committee, while Hon. Sunusi Lawan Badawi was named Secretary.
The decision followed ongoing political movements and alliances aimed at strengthening the party’s structure in the state. Tubo is from the Southern Borno Senatorial District, while Badawi represents the Borno North Senatorial District, reflecting an effort to balance representation across zones.
The appointments were conveyed through a circular issued by the Assistant National Organising Secretary and North East Zonal Organising Secretary of the party, Hon. Mohammed Abba Kyari. The document explained that the committee members were selected after considering political background, local government spread, federal constituencies, and senatorial districts.
The circular was dated December 18, 2025, and addressed from the party’s national office in Abuja. It was also forwarded to key national officers of the ADC, including the National Chairman, National Secretary, and National Organising Secretary.
The formation of the committee has attracted several political figures from different parties who recently joined the ADC. These include former leaders and aspirants from the APC, PDP, NNPP, and other parties, as well as former speakers of the Borno State House of Assembly and youth stakeholders across the state.
Political observers say the development positions the ADC as a growing opposition force in Borno State, especially as other opposition parties continue to face internal challenges.
