The All Progressives Congress has made public the defection of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, from the Peoples Democratic Party. The disclosure came during the party’s National Caucus meeting currently taking place in Abuja.
The APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, who is also from Plateau State, informed party leaders and members at the meeting that Mutfwang had formally joined the ruling party. According to him, the development means that the APC now governs all the states in the North Central region of the country.
The caucus meeting, which is still ongoing, is being attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and six other governors who recently left the PDP for the APC. The gathering forms part of the party’s efforts to review political developments and strengthen internal unity.
Party leaders at the meeting described the defection as another step in the APC’s expansion across the country, as more elected officials continue to align with the ruling party ahead of future political activities.
