President Bola Tinubu on Friday attended the 15th National Executive Committee meeting of the All Progressives Congress held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja. The meeting started at about 6:05 pm shortly after the President arrived at the venue.
The gathering marked the party’s second NEC meeting in 2025, following an earlier one held in February. It was also the first NEC meeting since Professor Nentawe Yilwatda became the national chairman of the party in July. The session opened with a Christian prayer led by Taraba State Governor, Kefas Agbu.
The meeting took place days after the APC adjusted the dates for its National Caucus and NEC meetings, which were earlier fixed for December 15 and 16 but later moved to December 18 and 19. The NEC session was eventually held at the Presidential Villa.
Several governors and senior party leaders were seen at the venue, including serving and former governors, as well as key officers of the National Assembly. Also in attendance were six governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party who recently moved to the APC. They included Governors Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, Peter Mbah of Enugu, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Douye Diri of Bayelsa, Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, and Kefas Agbu of Taraba.
The APC National Executive Committee serves as the highest decision-making body of the party between national conventions. Its members include the President, Vice President, national chairman, National Working Committee members, governors and other top stakeholders. The body is responsible for taking decisions on party management, policy direction and plans ahead of elections.
