The Kwankwasiyya Movement has announced that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Governor of Kano State, will officially join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday, March 30.
The ceremony will be held at Gidan Kwankwasiyya on Miller Road in Bompai, Kano State, beginning at 12 noon.
Kwankwaso’s move marks a notable shift in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections. The former governor previously ran for president under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in 2023, finishing fourth with 1,496,687 votes, behind President Bola Tinubu of the APC, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, and Peter Obi of the LP.
The announcement follows a meeting Kwankwaso held with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in Abuja, fueling speculation about alliances and strategies for the next general elections. Political observers see this defection as a potential game-changer, reshaping the dynamics among opposition parties and affecting presidential contest calculations.
As Kwankwaso officially aligns with the ADC, all eyes will be on how the party incorporates his support base and whether this move strengthens its chances ahead of the 2027 polls.
The event is expected to draw politicians, party members, and supporters from across Kano State and other regions.
